Fractured toe? No problem.

After missing the previous two games with a fractured pinky toe, Francisco Lindor was called called upon to pinch-hit in the top of the ninth inning of a 2-2 game against the Colorado Rockies.

Lindor didn’t disappoint, hitting a two-run double with two outs that eventually gave the New York Mets a 4-2 win at Coors Field.

The runs gave Edwin Diaz a nice cushion to secure his 14th save of the season.

Lindor’s heroics was enough to pull out a win in a game the Mets again struggled to come through with runners in scoring position. Before the All-Star shortstop’s at-bat in the ninth, the Mets were 1-for-14 with RISP.

The Mets had many chances to blow the game open before the ninth. But they instead continued the recurring theme of leaving runners on base. On Friday, 12 were left on base.

The Mets’ biggest disappointment came in the sixth inning with the bases loaded and no outs. The Amazin’s were in position to get out of a 1-0 deficit but Rockies reliever Jake Bird struck out three consecutive batters to end the threat.

Runners were left on base throughout the night as Kodai Senga kept his team in the game. Senga allowed just one run — a Mickey Moniak homer in the third — five hits, two walks and struck out six.

It looked like Pete Alonso was in position to give Senga the win after hitting a two-run double in the seventh that put the Mets up, 2-1. At that point, the runs ruined 6.1 previous scoreless innings for Colorado as the Mets went 0-for-10 with RISP. Alonso and Lindor were the lone Mets batters to record a hit with RISP. The team ended the night 2-for-15 in that category.

Huascar Brazoban followed Senga and gave up an RBI single to Moniak that tied the game, 2-2.

But Lindor came through in the ninth, scoring Alonso and Juan Soto. Soto easily scored from second and Alonso’s headfirst slide barely got him in before Hunter Goodman’s tag at the plate. The Rockies reviewed the play, but the call was upheld.

Brazoban, Ryne Stanek and Diaz combined for three innings — one run, four hits and one walk — after Senga’s start.

Stanek managed to pitch a scoreless eighth after loading the bases in the frame. With the game tied at two, Ryan McMahon looked to drive in runs, but lined out to Brett Baty, who then doubled up Jordan Beck by tagging him near the third-base bag.

Brenton Doyle then struck out to end the inning.

Rockies starter Antonio Senzatela entered the matchup with a 7.14 ERA and saw the number go down to 6.68 after allowing no runs in four innings of work. He did, though, allow three hits and four walks. Rockies relievers Tyler Kinley and Zach Agnos were charged for two runs apiece in the loss.

Agnos received the loss after falling victim to Lindor in the ninth.

The two teams face off again on Saturday, with Clay Holmes scheduled to face off against facing off against Carson Palmquist.
