A shout of “Racist!” was heard at France’s 51st Cesar Awards during a tribute to actress Brigitte Bardot.

There were also cheers mixed with boos as the “And God Created Woman” star’s famous face closed out the segment on Thursday night.

At least one person could be heard insulting the outspoken conservative, who died from cancer in December at the age of 91. Social media users indicated there were multiple vocal critics in the crowd.

Bardot was convicted five times for inciting racial hatred, according to French paper Le Monde. Other publications put the count at six.

Her vitriol frequently targeted Islam and immigrants. She was fined by the French government in 2000 for disparaging both groups in her 1999 book “Le Carre de Pluton,” according to The Guardian.

“My country, France, my homeland, my land is again invaded by an overpopulation of foreigners, especially Muslims,” Bardot wrote.

She’s also been accused of homophobia.

Her fourth and last husband, Bernard d’Ormale, was a prominent figure in France’s far-right National Front political party. She supported Marine Le Pen in the 2012 and 2017 presidential races, according to France 24. Radio France reported that French President Emmanuel Macron wouldn’t attend her funeral in January.

The public was reminded of Bardot’s politics in obituaries published after her death. Pop singer Chappell Roan honored the French actress on social media, only to withdraw her tribute after becoming aware of Bardot’s worldview.

“Holy s— I did not know all that insane s— Ms. Bardot stood for,” Roan wrote on Instagram. “I do not condone this. Very disappointing to learn.”
