After more than 25 years, magician and illusionist David Copperfield announced his Las Vegas residency is coming to an end after his name again appeared in the latest Jeffrey Epstein evidence dump.

“My journey began as a kid in New Jersey with a dream of one day making magic in my life. I saw magic then — and I see magic now — as more than just my work,” Copperfield wrote in a statement shared online.

“Magic teaches us that often the things that other dismiss as impossible are not only possible — but within our grasp,” he continued. “For 25 years now, I’ve been fortunate to headline at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. My last performance at MGM will be on April 30th, and I’m excited to announce what’s next soon thereafter.”

Copperfield added that it is the “largest project I’ve ever tackled, and the most challenging, too.”

Over the next eight weeks, the 69-year-old magician said he is scheduled to perform another 120 shows before his final bow in Vegas. Guests who have purchased tickets for any shows after that date will be automatically refunded.

“Join us if you can, and most importantly, know that whatever you dream about, you can achieve,” his statement concluded. “This kid from Jersey certainly did, and I believe in magic now more than ever.”

The announcement comes after Copperfield’s name was again featured in the latest batch of documents released by the U.S. Justice Department in connection with disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, who died by suicide on August 10, 2019. He was found unresponsive in his jail cell in New York City, where he’d been awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

In one email chain, Epstein claimed the famed illusionist got engaged to his former fiancée, supermodel Claudia Schiffer, on his private island of Little St. James in the Caribbean, now referred to as “Epstein Island.”

Copperfield, who has also faced multiple allegations of sexual misconduct over the years, has previously denied having a relationship with Epstein. His lawyers previously told The Guardian in 2024 that the suggestion that they were friends was “totally false” and that they only met a few times.
