ORLANDO, Fla. — During a brief appearance in court Friday, former Orlando City Commissioner Regina Hill’s legal team and prosecutors agreed they’d be ready for a June trial on her seven felony charges.

A status hearing was scheduled for May 1, when there will be a further update to potentially lock in the trial date. Attorneys told Judge Michael Kraynick they each have a few depositions and experts to interview in the coming months.

John Notaril, one of Hill’s attorneys, said he believes June is a realistic timeline.

“I look forward to my day in truth,” Hill told reporters after the hearing.

Hill was in indicted in 2024 on charges related to elder abuse and fraud after an investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

She was then removed from her city council seat by Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Hill made a run for re-election last year and was defeated by Shan Rose, her political rival, who was sworn in this week to a four-year term.

Hill is contesting the results of that election with a lawsuit, though it’s unclear if that will proceed.
